3D Systems recently came to interview us at the Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies (AIST) about how we use 3D Systems software and hardware. I was featured in the video about a project to create a 3D virtual campus and the great results from a rock we scanned. Using a 3D Systems iSense for the iPad, I scanned a rock into an obj 3D file, and cleaned up the data in Geomagic Design. While the word ignore, as seen on the rock was not able to be captured with the low resolution iSense, I was able to add the word back in using Blender and the boolean tools. After confirming the 3D model was a solid so that it would print properly, I printed it using 3D Systems CubePro with PLA material.
